A Student of Lafiaji Senior High School, Miss Ajala Gloria, has emerged as 2018 Lagos State One-Day Governor, after becoming overall winner of this year’s Spell Bee Competition held in Lagos.
Applauds for her winning come as Indomie brand, a major sponsor of the competition, has promised to continue to support quality education of the Nigerian child.
Lagos State Spelling Bee Competition, which is sponsored by Indomie brand, is aimed at encouraging academic excellence among students in the state. During this year’s event, Miss Ikhariale Grace of Tin Can Island Senior High School came second and Miss Akinbodewa Oluwatosin of Iworo Ajido Senior Secondary School came third. All the winners were handsomely rewarded with cash prizes, a trophy, school bags, dictionaries and souvenirs.
Speaking at the event, Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr Idiat Oluranti Adebule, commended all the winners in the competition. Adebule expressed satisfaction for the brilliance displayed by the participants, adding that the competition has boosted reading habits among young students in the state.
The spelling competition had 57 preliminary winners from the six education districts in the state.
In his address, the Group Public Relations and Events Manager of Dufil Prima Foods, Mr Tope Ashiwaju, said Indomie brand decided to sponsor the competition to enhance learning outcome for students in Lagos state. “Indomie as a brand has a keen interest in education development for the Nigerian child and is unswerving to the support of Spelling Bee project in Lagos State. As a company we are committed to the whole child development. We know that Spelling Bee do not only builds phonetics, but also it boosts memory and confidence of students,” Ashiwaju said.
He added that Indomie will continue to support quality education for the Nigerian child. “This is indomie’s brand legacy and we hope that the partnership with Lagos State Government will continue to grow stronger,” he said.
The Indomie Lagos State sponsored Spelling Been has so far produced 17 One-Day Governors in the state.
