The World Still Needs Energy to Drive the Global Economy

Mr Ehi Silence, CEO of JiREH Technologies (a leading indigenous engineering company delivering quality and cost-effective ICT solutions to Oil and Gas companies, private and corporate organizations for over 15 years) expressed optimism that the future of the Oil and Gas Industry is bright despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

He reiterated this while speaking recently at a just-concluded webinar on the impact of COVID-19 on the Oil and Gas sector. He stated also that the Oil and Gas sector is clearly the driver of the Nigerian economy. 80% of Nigeria’s revenue is generated from the Oil and Gas sector.

He further emphasized the importance of all Oil and Gas service providers to go back to the drawing board to strategize and introduce sustainable business models. “Innovation and creativity are needed here as we can’t afford to wait for the situation to return to the old normal.”

In his words “For things to happen differently, we must provoke it. For the Oil and Gas service sector to survive this season, we must embrace the full digitization of our services. We must leverage the available digital platforms to market our products and services. We must begin to search for timely solutions and services or complete diversification to other sectors.”

Mr Ehi believes the world still needs the energy to drive the global economy. “The future of the oil and gas industry is bright. However, we must be repositioned to maximize the opportunities and unlock the potentials this pandemic presents.”
